- A Rational
- Universe?
-
-
- CAUSE
and
- EFFECT
-
- "We
have never seen a violation of causality. To the contrary, the
universe seems remarkably rational."
-Universe,
Kaufmann and Freedman

The Principle of Cause
and Effect is the foundation for all problem solving. If the
Universe were not rational, every event in life would appear
as a mere chance phenomenon; paradoxical; defying any logical
appraisal. |
-
- "The
Principle of Cause and Effect gives scientists confidence that
every effect has a cause. All of science is focused on understanding
the causes of the effects we see". [1]
|
Because the
Universe is rational, there is a strong
conviction in cause and effect. For example, we understand that
rain is an effect. It rains because water vapor rises,
forms clouds, cools, becomes heavy and falls back to the earth.
A light bulb burns out because the conducting filament crystallizes
and breaks the flow of electricity.
If everyone
believed the Universe and its life forms served no rational purpose,
no rational attempt would be made to study and understand them.
- Cause or
Causer?
- Scientists
and religions around the world now acknowledge that the Universe
was in fact, created. What remains to be
answered is, what was the cause or Causer of creation? We'll
examine both sides of this debate, but first let's review the
evidence provided.

Conclusions Can be Drawn From the Natural Evidence? |

Newton's second
law of motion was arguably the first statement that behavior
of the universe depends rationally on causes. [8] |
-
"If the
universe were not rational, then we could never expect to discover
causes" [8] |
