Our current Age of Grace
(i.e., the Church Age) is in the final phases of GOD's Strategic
Plan to: 1) save humanity from a destiny designed for devils;
2) deal with His adversary Satan; 3) restore the Earth one last
time.
Why Earth?
The Bible describes the Earth as the stage for significant strategic
events in the past and still many dramatic events yet to occur.
As Christians, we may wonder why the Earth contributes so prominently
in GOD's strategic plan. Even scientists bear witness to the
meager statistical probability of our life-sustaining habitat,
spinning so perfectly off-axis around its star.
Planetary conditions
have to be ideal to sustain life - a simple review of our cosmological
neighborhood reveals that. Space is a hostile environment, yet
our blue planet is like an oasis in this corner of the galaxy.
Nor can scientists easily locate similar supposedly random accidents
such as our Earth.
But Earth's
uniqueness testifies to far greater subtleties than providing
a habitable ecosphere. The Bible provides cosmological clues
as to why key initiatives of GOD's Strategic Plan are directed
here.
The Bible declares
that GOD is the Sovereign Ruler over all, "Thine, O LORD,
is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory
and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth
is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD and thou art exalted as
head above all." (1Chr. 29:11).
The Bible also
describes GOD as Omnipotent (Gen. 17:1; Isa. 40:26), Omniscient
(Job 37:16; Prov. 24:12) and Omnipresent (Psalms 139:7-10).
We know that
our history began with the creation of Adam and Eve. However,
the Bible provides clues that our spiritual struggle has a broader
context than implied by our Adamic legacy. Clues of pre-adamite
entities and events are provided in the Old Testament and are
also referenced by Christ and the apostles in the New Testament.
Although specific
dates are omitted, the Bible describes aspects of Earth's pre-history
that relate to a conflict begun by the archangel Lucifer in eternity
past. The Bible describes GOD's plan for Jesus to set up headquarters
on Earth, for the express purpose of ridding it of all rebellion
in preparing it for the Father.
That plan includes
dealing with Lucifer (now called Satan), sin and all rebellion,
prior to restoring the Earth to GOD's original purpose. This
is a prehistoric plan from eternity past (Eph. 3:9-11, 1 Pet.
1:20) and we're in the final stages of its completion.
Let's put these
strategic initiatives in perspective, so we can better appreciate
Christ's mission - and the mission of His Church.
CHRONOLOGY
OF STRATEGIC EVENTS
Pre-Adamic
History
- GOD created
the heavens, the stars, sun and moon - Gen. 1.1; Ps. 8:3, 90:2;
95:5; 102:25; Isa. 40:12, 26; 45:12; 48:13.
- GOD created
the spirit-world - Job 38:4-7; Col. 1:15-18.
- GOD created
the Earth (original creation) - Gen. 1:1; Job 38:4-7; Isa. 45:18;
Hebr. 11:3.
- GOD created
Earth's social order (i.e., "the world that then was")
- 2Pet. 3:5-9; Isa. 14:12-14; 45:18; Jer. 4:23-26; Ezek. 28:11-17
- Lucifer, an
angelic being, reigned over the world that then was (Earth) -
Isa. 14:12-14; Jer. 4:23-26; Ezek. 28:11-17; Col. 1:15-18.
- GOD created
other thrones, dominions, principalities and powers - Col. 1:15;
Eph. 1:21; 3:10; 1 Pet. 3:22.
- GOD reigned
Supreme over His Kingdom - Job 38; Dan. 4:17, 25, 32, 35, for
an unknown duration.
- Lucifer became
prideful and conspired with one-third of the angels (including
his earthly subjects) to rebel against and to overthrow GOD -
Isa. 14:12-14; Ezek. 28:11-17; 1 Tim. 3:6.
- Lucifer launched
his planned overthrow from Earth and led his angelic army into
Heaven. He was met and defeated by the archangel Michael with
an army of faithful angels and sent back to Earth - Rev. 12-7-12;.
Isa. 14:12-14; Ezek. 28:11-17; Luke 10:18.
- [Although
Satan was cast down and dethroned, he was not stripped of his
angelic powers and still has access to heaven where he accuses
the brethren day and night. Job 1:6; 2:1; Rev. 12:10-12; Zech.
3:6]
- GOD then destroyed
Lucifer's kingdom on Earth, including the inhabitants, plant
and animal life and caused a great flood (Lucifer's Flood - not
Noah's) to make Earth a total wasteland (duration unknown) -
Gen. 1:2; Jer. 4:23-26; Ps. 104:6-9; Isa. 14:12-14; Ezek. 28:11-17;
2 Pet. 3:4-7.
- (Chronologically,
these prehistoric events took place between verses 1 and 2 of
Genesis Chapter 1.)
|
- GOD restored
the Earth in six 24-hour days (not ages, as some
wrongly teach), recreating the flora and fauna; created man and
put him in charge of the new creation. (Gen. 1:3 - 2:25; Exod.
20:8-11; 31:15).
- Satan, still
on the loose, tempted man to defy GOD, which consequently brought
the death penalty upon the human race. This act enslaved mankind
to the devil, who possessed the power of death over sinners.
It also reinstated Satan as Earth's ruler (prince of this world).
(Gen. 3; Luke 4; John 12:31; 2 Cor. 4:4; Rev. 11:15; 20:1-10.)
- After man's
fall, mankind grew so corrupt that 1,656 years after the creation
of Adam, GOD destroyed mankind with a second flood, saving only
Noah, his family and some animals.
- GOD later
selected Abraham to head-up a chosen family of believers through
whom Christ would eventually come. After the prophesied 430 years,
GOD called Moses to lead the Jews from Egypt to the Promised
Land. GOD gave the Jews His Laws, which they failed to implement
and resulted once again in their captivity.
- Jesus came
to Earth 1,718 years after Moses to finish His Father's business
by: putting an end to the Mosaic Law; saving the World by sacrificing
His life for ours; giving eternal life to believers; initiating
and commissioning His Church; teaching the truth and dealing
with false religion; being victorious over Satan - repossessing
the Keys of Hell and Death. (Mark 1:31; Matt. 3:15; John 4:34;
Luke 161:16; John 3:16-17; 18:37; 15:16; Matt. 16:18-19; Rev.
1:18.)
- We are currently
living in the Church Age. The next major event is the revealing
of the Anti-Christ, however before that can occur, Christians
must first be raptured and Christianity must lapse into apostasy
(falling away). (2 Thes. 2:3-8).
- During the
middle of the Week (Rev. 12:7), Satan and his army will again
attempt to challenge GOD in heaven, where he will be met and
defeated by the archangel Michael commanding GOD's angels. Satan
will be cast down to Earth and never have access to Heaven again.
(Rev. 12:8-12).
- Next, Christ
will return the second time to the Earth, with His saints to
set up His Kingdom, to rid the Earth of rebellion while Satan
is bound in the abyss for 1,000 years.
- After 1,000
years, Satan will be loosed to deceive the nations one last time,
but he and his army of spirit beings and human followers will
be defeated. The millennium culminates in the final judgment
where sinners will be confined in hell with Satan. The Earth
will then be free of sin and rebellion. (Rev. 20:7-10; 2 Pet.
3:10-13; Rom. 8:19-23; Heb. 1:10-12; 12:24-28; Matt. 25:41, 46;
Rev. 14:9-11; 20:10-15; Isa. 66:22-24; Rev. 20:11-15).
- GOD will then
recreate the Earth a third time. (Isa. 65:17; 66:22-24; 2Pet.
3:13; Rev. 21-22).
